Ramirez in for AYLC 2018

Ramirez in for AYLC 2018

By Michael Neil Bayog-ang, BSED- Biological Science IV

Jonel D. Ramirez, a junior BSED- Social Studies student, has qualified as one of the Top 80 Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC) 2018 participants. The 20th AYLC took place at Batangas City on February 19-26.

The Top 80 winners underwent a rigorous selection process. Their journey started from a pool of applicant nationwide, further trimmed down in the paper-screening process, and then finally the panel interviews. They were evaluated not just on their academic performance but also on their leadership experience in their respective communities.

A student leader, Ramirez’s love for social development work was reflected in his involvement in the Supreme Student Government as student liaison.

He and Jan Clyden N. Tenorio (University of Southern Mindanao) represented the SOCCSKSARGEN Region in the said event.

The AYLC is a keystone of “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders”, a youth development program launched by Ayala Corporation in 1998 as a concrete expression of commitment to national development. AYLC is anchored on the company’s belief that quality education and values-based leadership formation go hand in hand to equip the Filipino youth for their present and future role in nation-building.

When asked to give a message to his fellow student leaders, he simply replied with this statement, “Live a principled leadership, be at your best wherever you go, and grab opportunities that give you a venue to grow and develop.”
