Guidance Office - Empowering Children with OF... | Article

The Guidance Office reached out to our students with OFW parents to help them academically and to support them cope with their social, spiritual and personal concerns. It was conducted last November 14, 2017 at NDMC Primera Function Hall. The participants were from the junior high school, senior high school, and college unit. This was to give them the opportunity to have better adjustment and understanding of their own challenges, struggles and experiences of their parents abroad through faith.

Identity The name NOTRE DAME was suggested by Rev. Fr. Joseph Boyd, OMI, as a tribute to Our Lady, Mother Mary, to whom the Oblate Congregation and the Philippines are dedicated. On the upper right section of the  scutcheon are THREE STARS representing the Philippines. At the center are: a LILY flower, which in religious iconography, represents the Virgin Mary, Our Lady (Notre Dame), the principal patroness of the College; the  stylized initials OMI, which stands for the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the founding Congregations which administers the College; a BOOK, signifying the educational ministry of the College; and a RAM’s HORN, the symbol of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, denoting Notre Dame of Midsayap College as the pioneer Notre Dame School of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate...

When the Missionary Fathers came to Mindanao in 1939, they were confronted with the predicament on how to reach out to the people to spread the word of God. After much consideration, Fr. Gerard Mongeau, OMI and his Oblate brothers thought that the best way to reach as many people as possible was through the establishment of schools. They therefore decided to open the first high school in Midsayap because the system of highways at that time made Midsayap the crossroads of the province. The experiment was at the same time intended to test the reaction of the people to the idea of a Catholic school.
