It was an answered prayer to finally march down the aisle and personally receive the prized diploma.

The 61st Commencement Exercises last May 29will be written in history as the resumption of face to face graduation since the Covid 19 outbreak in 2019.

The Baccalaureate Mass was held in the morning at the Bulwagang Genoveva Deles-Jaranilla. Fr. Jonathan R. Domingo, OMI – NDMC President was the presider.

At 3:00 in the afternoon, the candidates for graduation lines up at their designated area for the Hooding Ceremony – one of the many firsts in the resumption of face to face graduation.

Immediately after the hooding ceremony was the processional of the graduates, faculty, administration, guests, board of trustees and the colors.

Everyone familiar with NDMC commencement exercises felt nostalgic and ecstatic – remembering the pomp and pageantry of the said event.

Lea B. Rentuma, BSED Social Studies major, a Magna cum Laude delivered the Address of Petition which was responded by the school president Fr. Domingo by conferring the respective degrees and titles.

Councilor Justine Clio Marquez-Ostique – NDMCAA Vice President for External affairs inducted the graduates into the alumni association. Jan Benjamin Manganti, MBA led the graduates in their pledge of loyalty.

Academic and special awards such as leadership, journalism, athletics, performing arts and loyalty were given to the outstanding graduates.

Atty. Marylyn B. Flauta-Lim, CPA and Mrs. Enedina G. Cacabelos – members of the board of trustees assisted Fr. Domingo.

Civil Service Commission in the persons of Mrs. Glenda I. Foronda-Lasaga – Director II and Ms. Cherie Mae P. Garcia – Human Resource Specialist II awarded civil service eligibility to the honor graduates qualifying them for government positions.

This was followed by the awarding of diplomas to the graduates. The parents of the graduates escorted their sons and daughters to receive the diploma from the college president.

The dramatic symposium – the most awaited part of the NDMC commencement exercises also took some modifications this time to observe physical distancing as required by the IATF.

The graduates sang the thematic songs on the gymnasium court this time which used to be performed on the stage.

The performance of the graduates in their dramatic symposium under the baton of Ms. Bing Sanchez, still carried the NDMC tradition of exemplar melody, harmony and choreography.

The graduates’ production was well received with rousing applause and virtual congratulations.
