NDMC-IBED Conducts Industry-Expert Seminar-Workshop on Food Preparation for TLE Teachers
Midsayap, Cotabato – The Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) of Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) successfully conducted the Industry-Expert Seminar-Workshop on Food Preparation for TLE Teachers on May 6–7, 2026 at the Home Economics and Livelihood Education (HELE) Laboratory. The two-day capability-building program aimed to strengthen the technical competencies of TLE teachers in Food Processing and Bread and Pastry Production (BPP) through industry-based, TESDA-aligned training.
The seminar formally opened with welcome remarks from Mrs. Dianna B. Quenikito, MAHE, TLE Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of continuous professional development among educators. Throughout the workshop, participants received hands-on training from TESDA trainers, beginning with laboratory safety protocols before engaging in practical food preparation activities.
The first day focused on Food Processing Specialization, where teachers learned industry-standard techniques in preparing Longganisa/Chorizo, Tocino, and Bangus Spanish Sardines. Participants gained practical experience in meat curing, fish preservation, ingredient preparation, proper packaging, sanitation, and food safety while reinforcing the value of teamwork, precision, and professionalism in food production.
On the second day, participants enhanced their competencies in Bread and Pastry Production through the preparation of Cinnamon Bread, Brownies, and Brazo de Mercedes. Guided by TESDA trainers, teachers practiced proper dough preparation, baking techniques, temperature control, product presentation, and quality assurance while applying industry standards in bakery operations.
Despite the intensive hands-on sessions, participants expressed fulfillment and appreciation for the valuable learning experience. The seminar-workshop strengthened their confidence in delivering practical TLE instruction and equipped them with updated technical knowledge that can be integrated into classroom teaching and skills training.
Through this initiative, Notre Dame of Midsayap College continues to invest in faculty development by providing industry-relevant training that enhances instructional quality and prepares educators to develop competent, skilled, and work-ready learners aligned with current industry standards.
