NDMC Offices Attend Capacity Enhancement Training on Safe and Legal Migration
The Office of External Affairs, headed by Mrs. Leodelyn V. Delosa, MSRED, and the Office of Student Affairs and Services, headed by Mr. Ariel Villaflor, attended the Capacity Enhancement Training for Various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on Safe and Legal Migration, organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) XII on July 17, 2026, in Koronadal City.
The training focused on equipping HEIs with essential knowledge about the proper and legal processes of working abroad, including the requirements and procedures for aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). It also addressed the risks of illegal recruitment and highlighted the importance of recognizing legitimate and authorized recruitment agencies.
As part of its advocacy for safe and legal migration, the DMW XII emphasized the importance of partnering with HEIs to ensure that students who plan to work abroad are properly informed and guided. Through this collaboration, schools can help future OFWs make informed decisions, avoid fraudulent recruitment schemes, and pursue overseas employment through legal and safe channels.
The participation of NDMC representatives underscores the institution’s commitment to providing students with relevant information and guidance that can help protect them as they prepare for future career opportunities, both locally and abroad. The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by promoting access to safe, legal, and decent employment opportunities, and SDG 4: Quality Education, by strengthening students’ access to knowledge that supports informed career decisions.
Furthermore, the training highlights SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as it strengthens collaboration between the Department of Migrant Workers and higher education institutions in promoting safe and legal migration. Through these partnerships, schools can serve as important channels for educating students and helping build a more informed and protected future workforce.
