Candlemas is a Christian festival held on February 2 to commemorate the purification of the Virgin Mary and the presentation of Christ in the Temple. Candles were traditionally blessed at this festival. 

Christian festival commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the Temple of Jerusalem, referring to him as the light of the people of Israel.It marks the return of light, a symbol of protection and prosperity.
