NDMC Plants 300 Molave Seedlings in Opening Activity for 85th Founding Anniversary MIDSAYAP, NORTH COTABATO
Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) opened its year-long celebration of its 85th Founding Anniversary through a tree planting activity held on August 22, 2026, at Barangay Malamote, Midsayap, North Cotabato.
With the anniversary theme, "Grateful and Great: 85 Years of Making a Positive Difference," the activity brought NDMC personnel together in a collective effort to plant a total of 300 Molave (Vitex parviflora) seedlings, marking the first major undertaking of NDMC's yearlong 85th-anniversary celebration.
The activity was conducted in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Midsayap through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (LGU-MENRO), Barangay Malamote Officials, and the 33rd Infantry Battalion (33IB).
More than an environmental initiative, the activity reflects NDMC's continuing commitment to its mission of making a positive difference through meaningful service to communities and responsible stewardship of the environment. The planting of the 300 Molave seedlings symbolizes the institution's desire to cultivate not only trees but also a culture of care, responsibility, and hope for generations to come.
The initiative likewise contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting a healthier and greener environment; SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation through the protection and improvement of natural ecosystems that help sustain water resources; SDG 13: Climate Action by contributing to climate change mitigation through tree planting and environmental stewardship; and SDG 15: Life on Land by supporting biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and the protection of terrestrial ecosystems.
Additionally, it also highlights SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how meaningful community initiatives become more impactful through collaboration among educational institutions, local government, and the community.
The tree-planting activity was spearheaded by the Community Extension Services (CES) Office, led by CES Director Pauline Rose Pokles, along with office personnel Delma Jaranilla and Walter Raval, and CES focal persons Sheryl Coquilla and Rezzie Cadungog.
As these Molave trees grow in the years ahead, they will stand as living reminders of NDMC's 85th year: a milestone celebrated with gratitude and greatness, and a renewed commitment to making a positive difference.
85 Years. Grateful and Great.
85 Years of Making a Positive Difference.
