Mathematics educators from across the Philippines gathered for the 2026 Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines–Tertiary Level (MTAP–TL) Annual Convention, held on July 29–31, 2026, at Venue 88 Hotel & Events Place in General Santos City. Anchored on the theme “Empowering Communities: Equity, Diversity, and Social Relevance in Mathematics,” the three-day convention provided a platform for professional development, research dissemination, academic exchange, and collaboration among mathematics educators.

The convention featured plenary sessions, parallel presentations, and discussions on current research, innovative teaching practices, and emerging perspectives in mathematics education. Participants explored ways to make mathematics teaching and learning more inclusive, responsive, and relevant to the diverse needs and experiences of learners.

The opening ceremony was enriched by an inspirational virtual message from Dr. Noel Marjon E. Yasi, University President of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU). The event also highlighted the contributions of session moderators, organizers, volunteers, speakers, presenters, sponsors, and partner institutions whose collective efforts ensured the successful conduct of the convention.

Throughout the three-day gathering, participants gained valuable insights into the importance of equitable mathematics education, research-informed instruction, continuous professional development, and collaboration across institutions. The convention emphasized that mathematics education goes beyond teaching concepts and skills—it also plays an essential role in addressing community needs and empowering learners to become active contributors to society.

The learnings gained from the convention are expected to be shared with colleagues through faculty reechoing activities and applied to classroom instruction, research initiatives, and collaborative academic programs. Strengthening professional learning communities and institutional partnerships will further support the continuous improvement of mathematics education.

The next MTAP–TL Annual Convention is scheduled to be held in 2027 at Negros Oriental State University in Dumaguete City, providing another opportunity for mathematics educators to continue learning, sharing, and collaborating.
